Outdoor play is a regular part of the day at EverBright Montessori Academy, giving children time to move, play, spend time outside, and enjoy being with their classmates.
Children have at least two hours of outdoor time each day. Our spacious outdoor area is approximately the size of a soccer field and includes a basketball court, a soccer field, and four playground areas with age-appropriate equipment for different stages of development. With different spaces to choose from, children have room for active play, group activities, and independent exploration.
Why Outdoor Time Is Important
Time outdoors gives children opportunities to move their bodies, make choices, interact with others, and experience their surroundings in a different setting from the classroom.
Movement and Coordination: Running, climbing, balancing, jumping, and other active play give children opportunities to practice gross motor movements and coordination.
Independence and Confidence: Children can make choices during play, try different activities, and gradually become more comfortable with physical challenges.
Playing Together: Shared outdoor spaces give children opportunities to communicate, cooperate, take turns, and enjoy games with their classmates.
Curiosity About the Outdoors: Time outside encourages children to observe their surroundings and take an interest in the natural world around them.
What Outdoor Play Looks Like at EverBright
